What is an artwork if not a message? An important message should be short and clear. Color, negative space and bold geometrics play a punctuation role, accentuating the message of each piece.
Katariina Fortuna is a graphic artist, primarily working with pencils and traditional printmaking. Her artworks are depicting the emotional and physical connections between humans and their architectural surroundings. While most of the works are done in pencil, up-keeping conventional printmaking techniques for Fortuna is a way to remember and honor the impact of printmaking on history and the development of humanity. The reminder of how it initially started as a method of duplicating and made learning accessible to the larger population.
Volunteering to create safe spaces for children of various ages is a big part of Katariinas art practice. She strongly believes that we, as an older generation, are obligated to provide opportunities to grow and safe self-expression for all under-aged.
